I have no information regarding Maintenance and life span except that from all I have read, the professional Printers are much more durable than the consumer or "Desk Top" Models. In fact, if I could manage the required space for a larger than (the 3880, my largest) I would manage to get one. Reading your comments makes me think that it almost exactly duplicates my desires.

If I get one my plan is to buy 3rd party pigment inks for it. How viable is a printer this old, strictly from a maintenance standpoint? This printer is sneaking up on a decade in age, are they just going to be maintenance nightmares? I know anything 10 years old is a gamle, how reliable are professional printers this old even if well maintained?Īm I stupid for even considering one of these? Reliability is my biggest concern. But I am seeing a fair amount of the old Epson 7600 model on craigslist for around $500. That being said, spending several thousand dollars for a new Epson or Canon is totally out of the question. I don't sell prints this large, it's strictly for my own enjoyment.Īnd yet, I want one badly! It's one of those pure lust (but no sense) type of purchases. It makes absolutely no sense for me to own a printer of this size. I never order prints this big from a lab, and I don't have much wall space for many 24x30"+ prints. This is driving me crazy! When I look at this objectively, a printer this big is totally impractical.
